COMMON PROBLEMS & SOLUTIONS

Are you experiencing problems with your bra? Here are few most common problems women experience and their solutions.

Problem

The underband arches up at the back. This is usually caused by the underband being too big (a common problem with smaller backed women), or it may be that the bra is too old and has lost its elasticity.

Solution

Underband size e.g. 34 instead of 36. Remember if the underband size reduces, your cup size may need to increase. Replace bras that are over one year old.

Problem

The cups are too small - commonly known as double busting. This happens when the bust is not fully encased in the cup, and it spills out at the front and/or under the arm, giving the impression of four busts under tops.

Solution

Increase the cup size e.g. B instead of A, and check the underband fits correctly.

Problem

Underwires are lifting away from the bust at the bottom of the cup. This happens when the cup size is too small. The wires should always sit around the breast, not on it, and they should lie flat against the body.

Solution

Increase the cup size. Remember your underband size may need to change too.

Problem

Discomfort or pain at the sides of the breasts. It is important that wire positions are checked during the fitting as discomfort in this area can cause health issues like tingling fingers or tender breasts.

Solution

Check both the cup size and the underband. The underwire should sit around the breast, not on the breast tissue. You should be able to fit two fingers inside the underband.

Problem

Cups wrinkling or sitting away from the breasts. This is a sign that the cups are too big for the breast size.

Solution

Reduce the cup size and check the underband fits snugly.

Problem

Strap discomfort. This is a common issue when straps are overtightened to try to pull up the cup for more support. This is not a solution, and will lead to the front of the bra losing all its support. Some women experience heavy indents to their shoulders and even suffer from headaches through the pressure of ill-fitting straps.

Solution

A well fitting bra should fit correctly in the cup and around the back The straps should just hold up the cup, not pull it. The bra cups should stay in place if you slip the straps off.
